Have you ever wondered how to make fire sparkle? It’s actually really easy! Just add cinnamon and powdered sugar in the right amounts and your fire will sparkle beautifully.
The Ideal Mixture
The ideal mixture will include both powdered sugar and cinnamon. Each of these ingredients does something different to the fire. When mixed together, they have a beautiful effect that can makes an excellent party trick!
If your goal is to figure out how to make a fire sparkle, then cinnamon is the most important ingredient you’ll need. Once you’ve mixed the ingredients together, just grab a small handful and toss it into the fire. A little bit goes a long way, so experiment with small amounts before you commit to larger handfuls. I recommend starting with a pinch, then a small handful, and working your way up from there.
Aim your toss directly into the flames, but make sure that you are standing a safe distance away before you toss it into the fire.
LARP Tips
One of the reasons we wanted to learn how to make a fire sparkle was because we wanted to incorporate this effect into our LARP events.
For our “Forests of Lindon” LARP in Halloween 2022, we used this technique as a mid-step. After the adventurers solved a cypher to find the correct ingredients, they mixed it up and tossed it into the fire so our witch could “see” the location of the Heart of the Forest. This effect can also be a fun finishing touch to a questline, since it has a great visual effect. It can also be a fun surprise if someone empties a vial into a fire, even if that fire is very small.
Whether it’s a main event or a subtle bonus, it never hurts to learn how to make fire sparkle with cinnamon because it’s always a fun flourish.
